Due to the separation of Alcon from Novartis, the company needed to create its own IT infrastructure. One of the most critical systems for business, the replacement of which was required in the first place, was the document management system. The system had to meet a number of requirements:

• Flexibility and opportunity for future expansion.
• User friendly and intuitive interface.
• Customization mechanisms for flexible business processes with many conditions and branches.
• Ability to generate more than 100 documents by templates.
• Ability to automate the maximum number of business processes to avoid the need to work in different systems and interfaces.

• Complete replacement of the existing workflow system and migration of all historical data to the new system.
• Ability to easily add new business processes and modules in the future.
• Ability to administrate and configure the system by the Customer, in order to increase the responsiveness to changing business needs.
• Make the system as simple and intuitive to work with as possible.

• Documentation for 2 pre-existing systems was created and the possibilities for transferring the functionality of two systems into one were analyzed.
• A universal model of the company's business processes was developed.
• A flexible system of security and data access was developed in accordance with a multidimensional role model.
• A document management system was developed, with flexible options for its configuration and administration.
• Technical and user documentation for the system was prepared, training was conducted and the system was introduced into the infrastructure of Alcon.

• A complete transfer of the functionality of previously existing systems to a new technological platform was carried out, as well as a complete migration of data.
• The architecture of the developed system makes it possible to implement a number of additional processes in it and avoid the acquisition of additional systems and the associated costs.
• The new system was put into production in a short time - within only 8 months.
• The system continues to develop, and all new processes of the customer company are incorporated into it.
